Supplier registration

Welcome to our Rio Tinto Buy Local portal which provides a pathway for potential suppliers to engage with us.

The Rio Tinto Buy Local portal provides information on goods and services that may be required for our operations, through the publication of Expressions of Interest (EOI).

In order to respond to an EOI published on the portal please complete the following registration process.

The following minimum criteria apply to registration:

  • Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST (if you are a business registered in Australia);
  • Have a business registration number (if you are a business registered elsewhere);
  • Experience in the provision of goods and/or services aligned with the goods and services categories; and
  • Have the appropriate Health, Safety, Environment and Communities management systems, and financial capacity to safely deliver goods and/or services.

As part of this registration process, you will also be asked to read and agree to our Terms of Use. Please read these Terms of Use carefully. Importantly, note that registering and responding to an EOI published on the Rio Tinto Buy Local portal does not make you a Rio Tinto vendor or guarantee you will be invited by us to respond to a Request Document (defined in the Terms of Use) or awarded a contract. We reserve absolute discretion in relation to these decisions.

You are able to save your registration at any time and resume at a later date.

Please allow at least 20 minutes to complete the registration.

We reserve the right to collect, store and analyse the information from your registration for the purposes of internal analysis and reporting. We will process any personal data you provide to us in accordance with the Rio Tinto Data Privacy Standard, which is available at https://www.riotinto.com/footer/privacy-cookies. Any external reports we prepare from the information you provide us will only contain non-identifying aggregated information.

We will not be responsible for any costs associated with your registration, including preparing and submitting any requested information.

3. General

Rio Tinto has introduced this Portal to allow businesses to view expressions of interest (EOIs) for goods and / or services required by Rio Tinto from time to time, and to allow eligible businesses (i.e. those that have completed the registration process) to submit responses to those EOIs.

Rio Tinto will decide, in its absolute discretion, which businesses that have responded to an EOI will be invited to respond to a Request Document issued by Rio Tinto for the supply of goods/services that it requires (which may be through a request for information (RFI), a request for proposal (RFP), a request for tender (RFT) a request for quote (RFQ) or any other form of request document issued by Rio Tinto).

Uploading or posting a response to an EOI does not guarantee that Rio Tinto will invite you to respond to a Request Document or that Rio Tinto will ultimately issue you with a Purchase Order or enter into a Contract with you. Rio Tinto reserves its absolute discretion in respect of these matters and will have no liability to you as a result of any decision to award or not award a contract to you.

If, however, you are successful in your response to a Request Document, you are still required to satisfy Rio Tinto's other conditions before you can supply goods/services to Rio Tinto, including completion of a supplier qualification assessment (at your cost).

You, as one of Rio Tinto's potential suppliers, play a vital role in helping Rio Tinto deliver on the promises it makes. You must ensure that you comply or otherwise act in a manner consistent with Rio Tinto's policies entitled 'The way we work', 'The Supplier Code of Conduct' and the 'Business Integrity Standard', which are available at: http://www.riotinto.com/aboutus/policies-standards-and-guidance-5243.aspx.
